Open Enrollment 2023 has started!

2021-2022 Temporary Dental Out-of-Pocket Reimbursement Program

The Trustees of the Benefits Trust are happy to announce that they have extended the temporary out-of-pocket dental assistance benefit!

Anyone who is eligible for Carewell SEIU 503 dental benefits can get reimbursed for any out-of-pocket expenses received for Kaiser Permanente dental services up to the plan maximum of $2,500 per year. Apply now before the funds are all spent.

This benefit will provide reimbursements:

  • For covered dental expenses through December 31, 2022, or until the designated funds for this benefit have been spent, whichever happens first. This means that if the designated funds are exhausted before December 31, 2022, some of your out-of-pocket dental expenses may not be reimbursed if they happened after the funds have all been spent.
  • For covered dental expenses received in 2021 as long as the date of service is not more than 12 months before the date of your request. For example, if you sign up for this benefit on April 18, 2022, but the date of service was February 24, 2021, your claim would NOT be eligible because the date of service is over 12 months from the date of your request.
So don’t wait to sign up and schedule an appointment with Kaiser Dental!

How does this benefit work?

To receive reimbursements for your out-of-pocket dental expenses, you need to submit the Dental Out-of-Pocket Reimbursement Program enrollment form. You only need to submit this form once.

Once we process your form, you will start receiving reimbursements for your out-of-pocket expenses (coinsurance and copays) for services covered under your Kaiser Permanente dental plan going back 12 months from the day you sign up, and through December 31, 2022.

How will you receive reimbursement?

  • If you signed up for Direct Deposit, you should receive the payment in your bank account two to three weeks after Kaiser sends the record of your charges to the Benefits Administrative Office (received weekly from Kaiser).
  • Reimbursements by check will take about four weeks after Kaiser sends the record of your charges to the Benefits Administrative Office.
